Eureka! I’ll Organize my Bookmarks!

Wednesday, January 31st, 2007

In my last ditch attempt to avoid work today I had that cute little thought which is now serving as the title of this post. I realize now that thought was better off un-thunk. I found out today that I horde links. I’m like the crazy cat lady…but in place of cats I have thousands of links that are taking up space and not really serving any purpose. I’m the crazy link lady :(

My bookmark list (or favorites list for you IE users) is outrageously bloated, overloaded, jam-packed and in some cases outdated. So my cute little project suddenly turned into a house full of cats and I spent 4 hours today deleting links I don’t even remember why I saved in the first place. The worst part of it all?

I’m nowhere near finished.

But, at least there is a bright side to all this crap. I’m finding some pretty fun stuff to play with in between link-purging sessions.

Like “Me as an M&M“:

M&M Bug

Or “Me as a South Park Character“:

South Park Bug

Yeah, I’m a dork. But if you happen to do either one for yourself and post it on your blog lemme know so I can go take a peek ;)

Leave a Message After the Beep!

Saturday, December 16th, 2006

I love blog-fads (blads?), I really do. Every week or so a whole slew of folks have nifty new toys to pass around and I gladly hold my hand out to join in!

The latest and greatest would be the Snapvine voice comment do-hickey! I got mine a number of days ago but have yet to post it because well…I’ve had other things to post about. Not to mention I wanted to make a nifty custom skin for it!

(mostly because the default skins they have are stoopid)

So, if ya wanna leave me a message after the beep just call:

1-(641)-985-7800

My Code Thingy: *2471402

The number is an Iowa one so you may get charged long distance (unless your cell phone rocks like mine) *chuckle*

P.S. I know, I know there’s an i-frame on this page *gasp* OH THE HORROR! G’head and pull my geek card if you must. But Snapvine’s code sucks ass and is unable to be resized so this was the only way I could display all my hours of hard work without having it show up all scrunched up and dumb lookin’. If anyone has figured a way around that would you pu-lease fuckin’ email me!!!1[one]!

Welcome to Bloggy-wood!

Sunday, November 19th, 2006

In my humble opinion blogging is pretty darn similar to Hollywood. It’s become one big popularity contest to see and be seen. Who’s linking to me, what is my rank in the ecosystem, how many comments do my posts get? All questions that at least half of us are asking ourselves.

We strive to be “famous” in the vast expanse of Bloggy-wood but how do we really know when we’ve arrived?

Now none of us have to wonder anymore! There’s a sure-fire magic engine that lets you know just what status you’ve reached in the Blogsphere celeb list :) You’ll finally know if you are the “Julia Roberts” or the “Kathy Kinney” of blogging!

This morning I found out that I’m a “B-List” blogger and I even got a nifty little badge to prove it:

I'm a B-List Blogger

Click here to get ranked and find out what list you’re on then have your people call my people and tell me how ya did ;)

Colorful Enough For Ya?

Saturday, November 11th, 2006

Ok so now that we have the fact that I am the spawn of Satan and that this blog doesn’t have daisies shooting out of it’s ass out in the open, we can move on to more important things!

Like colorblind people and your blog for instance *chuckle*

Back in the day (like 10 years ago really) when I was in school we had to walk 15 miles in the snow barefoot both ways take a yearly exam for colorblindness. It consisted of the school nurse shoving pages of colorful speckles in front of us and asking what colors we saw. I can say that I passed those tests with flying colors (no pun intended) then forgot all about ‘em…until a couple days ago anyway.

I’m guessing somewhere out there at least a few folks managed to fail that test and are actually colorblind. And I’m also taking a wild guess that at least a few of those people have the interwebs and also have the possibility of running into my blog (and yours for that matter). One of the sites below say that about 1 in 20 folks “have some sort of color vision deficiency “.

So what would they see if they showed up here?

I had no idea till I found the VischeckURL and also the Colorblind Web Page Filter. Both sites are a way of showing you what things look like to someone who is colorblind. Lucky for me AIS looks ok, save just a little skuzzy (then again I never dust around here so mebbe it’s just showing my lack of cleaning). Anyway, go check out your blog and see if it’s colorblind friendly!

Take a Bite out of Cyber Crime

Sunday, October 15th, 2006

Yo, parent-types, this one’s for you! I found this while surfing the other day and figured I’d pass it along to all ya’s with kiddos who are on the net. McGruff the Crime Dog is online and kicking some cyber-ass with his new website. It has little downloadable checklists that you can use to make sure you’ve got all the necessary tools in place to protect your computer. The site also has checklists for business computer users, mobile users and regular joe shmoe users with no kids.

McGruff the CyberCrime Dog

Here’s the front page blurb about the site:

McGruff the Crime Dog® is fighting one of the largest problems facing homes, schools and businesses across America: cyber crime. Led by the beloved McGruff character, the National Crime Prevention Council, the CMO Council and FAME have joined forces to bring together one of the largest and most influential coalitions of private and public companies whose primary goal is to teach millions of consumers how to identify, report and protect themselves against cyber crime.

I also did a Thursday Thirteen awhile back that has links to free computer protection software (good stuff). If you wanna check that out click here :)

Keep your ‘puter safe y’all!

P.S. Don’t forget about Dazed, she’s chillaxin’ up there in Room #813 waitin’ for you to drop by!

Ooogga Booga!

Friday, October 13th, 2006

Ok so I tried to scare ya…guess it didn’t work eh? Le sigh. Happy Friday the 13th everyone…whoppie friggen doo. I’d tell you that all the wack jobs are running around my neighborhood tonight but it’s like that every night so no change here *chuckle*

In my net travels today I found some useful goodies for ya to play with this weekend! Here they are in no particular order:

FEED Validator - This is a validator for syndicated feeds. It works with RSS 0.90, 0.91, 0.92, 0.93, 0.94, 1.0, 1.1, and 2.0. It also validates Atom feeds.

To use it, simply enter the address of your feed and click Validate. If the validator finds any problems in your feed, it will give you messages for each type of problem and highlight where the problem first occurs in your feed. If you’re unsure what a message means, click the “help” link next to the message for a fuller explanation.

Web2.0 Logo Creator - A parody of Web 2.0 Logos, make your own spiffy W20 logo. Here’s mine:
Generated Image

PDF Online - Convert to files to PDF for Free. Including the following formats MS Word, MS Publisher, MS Word, MS Excel, HTML, MS PowerPoint, Text and more.

Oh oh oh! One more thing I’ve been meaning to ask y’all:

How do you read An Indian Summer?
Physical Visit or RSS Feed?

I’m running out of town tomorrow so I hope y’all have a great weekend! :)
