December 2008

I’m trying not to Grinch up the place or anything but I think this year I’m going to just let Christmas sort of pass on by. I’ve gotten some cards done and picked up the kid’s and grandkid’s gifts but I don’t think I’ll be doing much more than that. The tree, lights, baking, festivals, sleigh rides and ho-ho-hos are just going to have to be left to someone else.

Our next door neighbor has his house lit up a la Griswold, which is nice, I figure I’ll just hope some of the light beaming from his house will light mine up a little. He even offered to hang my lights for me, which was a nice gesture but not gonna happen because A.) I don’t own outdoor lights. and B.) I honestly don’t feel like it.

It’s been a rough year and I just don’t feel even a little “in the spirit”. I hope next year I’ll be back to my maniac Martha Stewart-esq Christmas-y self. But for this year I think it’ll be a low key Xmas for me.

Pretty pathetic but on the bright side at least I have a 2% better chance of survival than Dawg ;)

You Are 37% Likely to Survive Another Great Depression

Your habits are pretty on par with the average person.
Unfortunately, this means your chances aren’t good in another Great Depression.

Start saving your money now. Living in debt isn’t doing you any favors.
Also figure out how to live a little more cheaply. Every little bit you can trim will help.

While The Hotness was home on leave we had a small family party here at Casa de la Buggie so that everyone could see him before his return to Kuwait :)

He gathered everyone on our back porch and thanked them for coming to see him, he then called me over to stand with him. He began reminiscing about the start of our relationship and how he asked me to move in with him by “proposing we try ‘playing house’ for awhile and see how it goes”. And how everything has gone so splendidly that he had one more proposal for me (see where this is going?) ;)

The moment he whipped out the ring box everyone around us went crazy and the ladies in the crowd all yelled out “WAIT WE NEED OUR CAMERAS!” and they all stampeded back into the house *chuckle* The Hotness just kind of looked at me and asked “What do I do?” and I shrugged and said “Wait I guess.” So there we stood, him clutching a ring box and me giggling at the fact that in my family nothing will ever go according to plan.

Finally, everyone came flying back out of the house cameras in hand and he hit the ground on one knee and asked me to marry him :) After a yes from me the time after turned into a whirlwind of hugs, laughter, and tons of pictures from everyone…for me I couldn’t have been happier to have my family and friends share in the moment and it was a picture perfect proposal in my book. The actual pictures from the whole thing are rather shaky as our photographer (Maria) was jumping around hootin’ n’ hollerin’ with everyone else (view more photos here):

Down on one Knee!

So with all that said I’m now a spoken for woman (HA!) and the crazy process of wedding planning will begin in earnest when The Hotness returns in a few months. For now I’m just enjoying wearing the ring and playing the part of the blushing fiancee :)
