Fuck Cancer.

I’m in a bad mood right now because of this news so this may not come out nicely written. My cousin Travis was just diagnosed yesterday with Testicular Cancer. He’s 19. Please guys go get yourself checked out every year at least. This is serious shit, instead of him enjoying college he’s going to spend his days in chemo. That’s fucked. He’s going to lose the ability to have children, that’s really fucked. Ladies make sure you get the boys in your life to go to the damn doctor.

Seriously.

  1. Condolences on the news…hard to take.

  2. Sorry your family has received this bad news.
Cancer is thrown at us when we least expect it.
I’ve had it thrown at me this year on top of my MD.
    Tell him to FIGHT it!

  3. That sucks. I offer my deepest sympathies.

Losing a testicle does not necessarily mean that he will be infertile, it just reduces the ability of having kids. Plus, there are options such as in-vitro fertilisation where they can collect his semen before his testicle(s) is/are removed.

Just another reason to sponsor Bug in Blogathon 2007.

P.S. — you should really have registration enabled so that blind people can bypass the CAPTCHA. It’s easy for me to read, though, which is a first. That, or install re-CAPTCHA plugin which has a built-in audio function.

  4. I’m sorry Bug.

I haven’t told my readers yet, but I go in for a biopsy next week. They think I might have mouth cancer. damn.

  5. Ah for shit’s sake, that blows. Here’s wishing him well… and you too my dear, it’s been approximately forever since I commented you. I’ve been useless at keeping up with my blogroll lately (and with keeping my own blog updated, for that matter).

  6. I’m sorry, Bug. I’m sending good thoughts. *hug*

  7. I’m so sorry, and I wish him the best. My uncle was diagnosed a few years ago with testicular cancer (and actually lost one due to it), he also had to do chemo… but he’s happy and healthy now. Even had a son afterwards. So chin up.

  8. Sorry to hear that bug.

Like phelan, I haven’t told any of my virtual friends yet, well except one. I’m scheduled for a biopsy. Anyway, doctors think it’s either stomach or colon cancer. I do hope it’s nothing.
