The Bug Hour 5/31: It’s Miller Time!

Thursday, May 31st, 2007

Steve Miller Band that is (but feel free to bring your own beer)! Join me tonight starting at 9pm EST for our first ever two hour show-block of The Bug Hour! We’ll be crankin’ up the Steve Miller Band tonight with the Bug-cam running live feed of the whole damn show! If you like SMB then this is the place for you ;)

We’ve also got new music from two hot bands that were just dropped on my turntables yesterday! If you haven’t heard of Kinky’s Ex or Limeshark then make plans to be at the show for your first earful of their bitchin’ tunage!

And to top if off we’ll be kicking off a new contest with a chance to win some easy $$$!

Don’t forget to join your fellow Mojo’ers in the station chat room so you can actively participate in all the madness :)

Click here to get to the station — see ya tonight!

Tune in every Monday night at 11pm EST only on KMRL Mojo Radio Live

Bunless

Wednesday, May 30th, 2007

Why is it that whenever I eat a hamburger the bottom bun always disappears before the top and I’m stuck with a huge clusterfuck of a bunless mess?

P.S. I’ve got “Ice Ice Baby” stuck in my head…someone please suggest a better tune eh?

The Plugin Purge

Thursday, May 24th, 2007

I’ll be the first to sing the praises of Word Press to others. In fact, the only reason this blog exists is because of Word Press. It’s an easy platform that helps thousands of folks stake their claim of the vast interwebs. And with thousands of plugins to choose from and install they can customize your blog any way you see fit.

And folks do install those plugins at great length. But as the saying goes “All things must be in moderation.” I’ve been a website host for over 4 years and one thing I’ve noticed is the lack of regular “maintenance” people do on their sites. When it comes to Word Press I’ve noticed that folks find it a little too easy to just install a plugin and forget about it.

I’ve worked on blogs that have an entire laundry list of plugins installed and activated (I’m talking well over 15 folks). The effect is that the blog loading slows drastically because some plugins don’t play nice with each other or you get a badly coded plugin that causes other issues. And let’s not even talk about those awful Error messages that pop up all over the place.

Since it’s Spring Cleaning time I urge you to take a look at your blog (or pay someone to do it) and do a little preventative maintenance. Below are some items you should look at regarding your blog’s plugins.
