Hail to the Cheif and Whatnot

Hi-ho everybody! In case you’re living under a rock today is Presidents Day :) I found out our local banks are going to be open which I found weird since I thought everyone was supposed to shut down today *shrug*

Are you gettin’ the day off?

I think it’s more of a goverment employee thing. For once, it pays to be a teacher!

School’s out, but everything else seems to be open SRS (Kansas’s foodstamp and medicaid program thing) is open. Not all are there, but it’s open and seeing clients. Some banks are open (not ours but it’s a federal employee credit union, so I’m not surprised). Other than that, I think most everything else is open, which is really surprising. Seems they’re not closing at a drop of a hat for everything anymore :)

My entire life is a day off. I just have to spend a couple of days off per week at my job!

There’s never a day off if you work in retail. Holidays are just an excuse for people to shop. Here the banks are open because they wanted Mardi Gras off and it seems banks can’t close three days in a row, so if they took off Presidents day, the Sunday before and Mardi Gras it would be a no no. So they voted to work Presidents day and take off tuesday which is Mardi Gras.

Nope. Where I work it’s 24-7-365. But, I do get Floating Holidays that I get to use anytime I want.

I had the day off, but because I took it off rather than going into work. I did do work in the morning from home and then cleaning at home in the evening. I didn’t get paid for it though. stupid social services job ;-)
