Ex Marks the Spot

What a whirl-wind weekend y’all! I’m stone cold flat out pooped the fuck out. This weekend The Hotness and I went to visit my mom up in Payson and take a little mini vacation from the grind. While there we got invited to a community dinner thing that was raising money for the local FFA chapter (and charging entirely too much money for a plate of chicken and beans). But being an FFA alumni myself I figured why the heck not?

Turns out damn near the entire town showed up for this thing and there were lots of people that I hadn’t seen in years. Or to be more specific lots of ex’s. Ex-boyfriends, ex-friends, ex-teachers. You get the picture. It was like a mini-ex reunion; needless to say it was slightly uncomfortable for me at some points.

Ex-friends who had kids right out of high school and are stuck working crappy jobs for next to nothing (I felt guilty to be doing better than them). Ex-boyfriends who give you the googly bedroom eyes until you go over and introduce your boyfriend (I felt relieved I didn’t lose my damn mind and marry any of ‘em). Ex-teachers who are on the brink of retirement and make you remember just how long it’s been since you’ve been in school (I felt nostalgic to be in a classroom again). It was all pretty surreal. As much as I loved high school I was glad that I moved on, up and away from that town.

We did have a nice time doing a little of what I like to call “hippying out” in the woods. The Hotness and I spent a lazy Saturday afternoon by the East Verde River taking in the sites and chatting with a couple new people who were…um…really “hippying out” if yaknow what I mean

Sucks that you were sucked in to spend time with a bunch of people you have left behind years before. The ex-bf thing woulda been kinda uncomfortablt I would think… especially if you had The Hotness with ya… I am so glad I didn’t go to my reunion this year. None of the people I really care to see woulda been there anyway… they didn’t do well in school and are probably stuck in menial jobs working 12 hours a day sweating their asses off. Not my idea of a good time.

And LOL @ Vern Sweetie, she was probably just getting outta diapers when you were graduating LOL!!
