Ya Know Sumtin’?

Friday, June 30th, 2006

Nothing beats sitting under the sprinkler when it’s a million-bajillion degrees out with two whole sheets of bubblewrap to pop and knowing that you’re going to a kickass party the next day with some really kickass people :) TGIF folks!

Let’s make sure we start my lovely renter Dawn’s weekend off right as well– pop on over and wish her a great day if you have a moment!

3T tagged me and I swear to god I’ma get on that Meme first thing in the morning!

In Case of Emergancy

Friday, June 30th, 2006

Most of us have cell phones; most of us keep them with us all day every day. Many of you may have heard about the “I.C.E.” campaign that originated in England and picked up great popularity after the London bombings. It made its way over to America as well, and was featured in the likes of USA Today and The Washington Post. For those of you who don’t know about this here’s the quick run-down:

ICE - In Case of Emergency
In case of emergency or ICE is a campaign to encourage people to put an emergency contact name in their mobile phones. In developed countries some 80% or more of people carry a mobile phone, and the police or paramedics often use them to identify victims at road traffic accidents or other incidents. The idea of ICE is that everyone should put an emergency contact name and number into their phone under the headword “ICE”. This would give the emergency services personnel a standard place to look. -Source

Personally I like this idea a lot and The Hotness and I both have our I.C.E. numbers programmed into our phones. There are some people whose phonebooks are PIN protected, so this post isn’t really for you I guess. But for the rest of ya’s listen up because this is a friendly reminder ;) Get your phone(s) and take care of business, it’ll only take a couple of minutes (depending on how complicated your phone is) and it could help you out in your time of greatest need.

There are emails going around that talk of the I.C.E. idea being a method of spreading viruses or incurring large call fees. None of that is true, both myths are de-bunked here.

Obviously having I.C.E. in your phone isn’t a guarantee (batteries die and phones sometimes get lost in chaos) but along with having your emergency contacts written on a card in your wallet or purse it sure gives you a little extra peace of mind and can help folks help you a little quicker.

If you’d like to get a neat little I.C.E. support button for your website or blog like the one above just click here.

Itchy-ness

The Hotness is home and I have hives. I know how I got The Hotness, I picked him up at the airport around 10-ish last night. How I aquired the hives? No idea. I sure would like them to go away though because I look really silly and am all itchy. I’ma take a wild guess that Dawn doesn’t have hives so you should prolly go visit her because I’m not such good company at the moment.

Welcome Dawn (aka Webmiztris)!

Room #813 is full again; this time around we have the lovely Dawn from Tiny Voices in My Head! I’m totally stoked about her being here because I’m a regular lurker around her place and she just plain ‘ol rocks! Let’s show her a good time eh? Click on over and say howdy to this little lady…and tell her Bug sent ya ;)

Thank you to all the other great blogs that put in bids, I wish I could pick more than just one at a time!

Gosh, I feel like with all the stuff going on around here I haven’t really posted much of what’s going on for me. To get you up to speed, The Hotness took off for Philly early Monday morning to fix a few things on the house we’re selling so we can get our occupancy permit and get rid of the place. He’s finally coming home tonight *yay* but it’s been nothing but sleepless nights for me since he left.

Work has been wild, so wild in fact that I’ve forgotten completely about the house warming party I’m supposed to be hosting *cringe* I’m guessing that sometime towards mid to the end of July everything will have settled down here enough to bring crowds of people into our nueva casa. Other than that it’s just same shit different day in my world….ok now get the hell outta here and go say hi to Dawn ;)

Renters and Winners and Platforms– Oh My!

Tuesday, June 27th, 2006

Yep folks we have a lot of ground to cover here so hang on tight! Before we begin real quick I’d like to thank everyone for the comments and emails about the new look– y’all gave me the warm and fuzzies!

Onto Room #813….folks, I think it may very well be haunted! Rae from Bone of Contention was the very first blogger to crash in my humble abode and…well…he up and vanished on the last day of his stay! *cue creepy music* I do hope everything is ok with him, but while he was here y’all showed him a pretty good time! Here’s the stats from his 7 day rental of Room #813:

698 impressions
288 unique impressions
82 clicks
32 unique clicks

Price: 10 Credits

A huge thank you to everyone that went over to visit him! After I get the sheets changed on the bed and find some fresh towels #813 will be open for bidding again this evening. Since there’s a good possibility that the room is haunted I’ll be more than happy to leave a teddy bear on the bed and keep the night-light on after dark no one gets scared ;)

Next on the list are the winners of last week’s San Francisco Tourist Trivia contest! I was pretty surprised at the number of people who did their homework and sent in the correct answers–smart cookies the lot of ya! All the “A+” submissions got tossed into a hat and two were randomly picked as the first and second place winners of the San Fran Prize Packs!

First Place: ::c:: from Kosher Pork
Second Place: Bunny from Bunny’s Babblings
If you have a moment drop in and say hi to these two smarties! Congrats y’all :)

There will be a new Win It! posted this Saturday so make sure to drop by–especially if you love coffee ;) !

AIS is powered by WordPress, and its lazy owner (that’d be me) still hasn’t upgraded from version 1.5. I guess I should really get around to doing that since they’ve had a couple big releases since I moved to WP from Blogger. I personally think WP is like the best thing ever on the planet but it got me to wondering, what do other people like to use to do their bloggin’.

I know there’s a plethora of platforms out there but which one do you use?
