Everybody Wants to get Stoned

Well here’s a good one for ya, Mexico is gonna legalize “small amounts of drugs for personal use” (we’re talkin more than just weed folks…can you say heroin, LSD and ecstasy?). All their gov’t. needs now is El Presidente Fox’s signature on the bill. His offices are saying he’s going to give it the thumbs up. They say this is so their law enforcement can focus on busting the “big guys”. I’m still trying to figure out how legalizing it is going to be any help…I figure just keep it illegal and switch focus onto the big guys…I just can’t seem get the big picture into focus though.

Isn’t that cute? Mexico is now going to make it OK for drug addicts to continue their abuse without any prevention or reprimand– just a hop skip and a jump away from our unsecured borders where *gasp* Americans (and American children) can freely come and go. I smell a time-bomb just waiting to explode here.

Guess what the White House has to say?

“The Bush administration had no immediate reaction.”

Instead we’ll get a delayed reaction that will only make matters worse as seems to be the m.o. for the folks up there in Warshintin’. They are all probably too busy sitting in the Oval Office reading “My Pet Goat” or figuring out new ways to invade more countries in the name of “fighting terror”. Never mind the inconsequential detail that now, not only will we have illegal aliens flooding into our country as before, but they are able to get blown, high, tweaked, stoned or tripped out of their minds before comin’ on over here and it’s A-OK with their gov’t. *sigh*

What country is left that doesn’t suck ass and isn’t a terrorist threat to Bush?
I’d like to go there now please.

Happy Secretary’s Administrative Assistant’s Administrative Professional’s fuckit Secretary’s Day to all you guys and gal’s out there who keep our offices running! I’ve never been one to be very politically correct…get over it.

The Hotness and I decided to bring flowers to the secretary’s of our clients today. One of the women we dropped a bouquet off for was wicked excited…like beyond what normal people should ever be excited. Come to find out, in her 40+ years on this earth she’s only gotten flowers once before. I find that really sad, I think more people should give flowers…they are so cheery and can really make a day good. There doesn’t even have to be a reason to give them really. Hell, these days you can pick up a decent bouquet at Wal-Mart for like $4 so there’s no excuse for not spreadin’ petal-y love around y’all.

Moving on– The Hotness went to the doctors today and was diagnosed with Pleurisy. Doc sent him on his way with three very expensive pills that will make it go away in three days and The Hotness should be back and better than ever in no time. This news comes not a moment too soon because I can only take so much whining before blood vessels in my head want to pop. There is a light at the end of the tunnel now.

This afternoon I went for a swim in our developments pool since the weather was warm and god knows I need the exercise. The only other people enjoying the waters with me were a mother and her six…yes…six kids. Five of ‘em were young…the 5-8 range. One was a teenager who –I gathered from the conversation she was having with her mother– was about to enter high school.

At first I basically tuned them out and did some leg building exercises but one part of their little mother daughter chat caught my ear:

Militant Mom: “You WILL go in there and sign up for every activity and sport you can find. And you WILL participate in them ALL.”

Dejected Daughter: “But…”

Militant Mom: “No, you WILL.”

I don’t know the real premise of this discussion but the daughter looked really bummed about the whole deal. And honestly I can’t say that I blame her. I tried just about everything in high school –except for drugs because those are bad mmmkay?– but there’s a reason I was able to. If what I tried didn’t float my boat I’d drop it and move right along. I finally found my niche in FFA (Future Farmers of America), but I did test a lot of waters before I was able to anchor down.

Parents that force their kids to “do all, be all” are taking a big risk. Some kids are studs as they can handle the pressure and perform well. However, forcing shit down people’s throat (yeah kids are people…just smaller) to pad a scrapbook or college application won’t make the kid any happier. I really wanted to turn to the mom and tell her to chill the fuck out and let her daughter have a little fun with the last few years of her childhood because the real world sucks ass. But I didn’t. I just finished my leg exercises, grabbed my towel and silently thanked god my mom didn’t give a rats ass what I did in school as long as I didn’t get arrested.
(which if you must know…yes I did get arrested, the high school experiance just isn’t complete without a good “gettin’ busted” story or *cough* two)

So let’s recap:
*Secretary’s Day-whoo hoo!
*The Hotness- not going to die!
*Militant Mom- glad she ain’t my momma!

Hasta :)
