The Hills Are Alive…With Blogs?

This morning while doing my usual surf around the blogsphere I ran across something that peaked my interest. Scott -O-Rama did a post titled “The Real Reason Blogging Is Hard”. He accompanied it with a picture of a meat grinder and a single sentence that was linked to this. G’head…read and c’mon back if you’re interested–I’ll wait ;)

So, anyway after reading that post I got to thinkin’…blogging really can be hard sometimes! Every blogger wants to be read and commented on so they have to come up with something new every single day. It can turn into a grind of sorts. My problem is that I see a million things a day to talk about on here but once I sit down its wicked hard to get my thoughts in order enough to present them to y’all. Maybe it’s my ADD kicking in–who knows.

When I first started An Indian Summer I didn’t have any huge plans for it. I figured it’d be a place where my family could read about what goes on in my life, a place where I could get things off my chest, a place just for me to get stuff out of my head and down in a semi-tangible form. Slowly I began to get regular readers that weren’t related to me, something I didn’t plan on! There are people out there that come here and read my stuff–how exciting! If you blog you know what I’m talking about…that little jump in your tummy that someone is reading your stuff and interacting with you because of it. It’s a great feeling!

However, with regular readers came the unspoken expectation to update this thing regularly so that they’d have something new to look at. Which it goes without saying– I broke blogger rule #1, sometimes I’d disappear for days at a time *gasp* I’m sure I lost a couple readers during that time, but there are a few die-hards out there who kept coming back. I love you guys…all 3 of ya’s *chuckle*

I like to think I’ve grown a bit as a blogger since I first started. I’ve tried to keep my readers in mind when I write, try to keep the entertainment factor ever present in my posts. Some days it works, some days it doesn’t. But I’ve tried to keep my posting as regular as possible.

The post I linked ya to talks about working your way up a blogging “hill” and the scary possibility of going right back down very quickly. I don’t even know where my blog is on this “hill”. I don’t know what people really think about this place. I just wanna write stuff and make people smile and maybe even think a little sometimes. Pretty simple eh?

Here’s the part I may get myself in trouble *chuckle*

I wanna know what you think (if this is your first time here please do this too):
-What do you think of An Indian Summer?
-Is there something I could to to improve?
-What would you like to see more of around here?
-What would you like to see less of around here?
-Have you brushed your teeth yet today?

And if you have my blog linked in your blog roll and you aren’t already linked on my blog roll somewhere please leave me a comment (yes, delurk yerself if ya have to) so I can add you :)

I have brushed my teeth, I think, yes I did remember. Site looks good, have to have a good peruse but posts look great.

It can be hard to come up with stuff for these blogs, sometimes you just wonder why you bother as it looks like no one is reading the drivel. But it is fun and cathartic.

I have added you to our blogroll, I think, sorry the brain’s not functioning right today.

Speaking as one of them thar relatives…your blog is priceless to me. And I admire your willingness to discipline yourself into coming up with daily ’stuff’ to prattle on about. It comes off as effortless on your part…but now we know that ain’t necessarily so. Keep doing it blonde & BRAINY one!

Oh, and Unka B. can heavily relate regarding SLIM people having to put up with abuse from the lardy rest of us that, when all is said and done, are green with envy. One learns quickly not to use the S word around him (that word being skinny).

An Indian Summer has been a favorite of mine since the first time I read it. I love how you’re not all big headed about having regular readers and a lot of times I come here for a smile, so you’re doing a great job in that department.

I really don’t think there’s any where you could improve… maybe add a little color or something? Personally I think if this is you then it’s perfect, don’t you change!

I don’t think there’s anything that I need to see more or less of that I can think of and yes, I’m brushing my teeth as we speak…. er as I type.

-What do you think of An Indian Summer? INDIAN SUMMER ROCKS! I love visiting your blog Bug because you’re honest, blunt and what I call “real”. You always find a way to make me laugh whether you post daily or weekly. I love coming here just to see what you’ll say next.
-Is there something I could to to improve? Nope!
-What would you like to see more of around here? n/a because of above
-What would you like to see less of around here? ditto
-Have you brushed your teeth yet today? Yes I have!
