February Day o’ Stats

Tuesday, February 28th, 2006

Pre-Post Note: Yesterday while looking over the visitor statistics for AIS I got a helluva chuckle. Then I realized my statistics alone are worth a post for themselves. So, from this day forward on the last day of every month come hell or highwater AIS will have a Day o’ Stats! Can you feel the excitement? Can you? I can. So, anyway….by the power vested in me by the mighty Awstats program I officially declare today Day o’ Stats!

-Reporting Dates- 02/01/06-02/28/06

-Unique visitors- 751

(shouldn’t you fuckers be at like work or something?)

-Highest Visitor Number from Non-English Speaking Country- Germany 35
(Dank zum Lesen meines Blogs. If I said that wrong or insulted your cat/mother/next door neighbor blame these guys)

(sorry to disappoint the anal community…I just say fuckers a lot)

-14 people were on a quest for ‘Everclear lyrics’

-3 people were lookin’ for ‘indian super butt’
(Does anyone else get the mental image of a little butt wearing a cape?)

-4 folks ended up here via ’shortest word with a b c d e f’

-2 searches for ‘how about a nice big cup’
(…of shut the fuck up?)

-1 lost fucker was trying to find ‘indian meet with peas’
(would you like fries with that?)

- 1 search for ‘indian dentist porn’
(dude, someone likes the dentist a little TOO much)

- 1 idiot was trying to find out ‘how to snort aspirin’
(I’m not sure what that’s all about–snort Coke just like everyone else man–seriously)

-1 person was looking for ‘photos of sheepshit’
(all I gotta say is EWE gross! *chuckle*)

Ok enough of that…there’s tons more but you and I both must get back to work now. Here’s to a lovely March–Cheers! :)

It’s Monday. Seriously.

Monday, February 27th, 2006

Once again it’s pushing towards 11am on a Monday morning and I’m sitting here getting nothing accomplished. I guess that’s what Mondays are for…*chuckle*

FYI: The Arizona Bloggers Coalition will be going to the Arizona Renaissance Festival on March 18th. If you are from AZ head on over and join the Coalition and c’mon down, we’d love to have you tag along! Click here for all the nitty gritty.

A big thank you to everyone who posted feedback on my last little blurb. I’ve been taking notes and will start implimenting some of the suggestions to make this a better place for y’all :)

I’m a cheap ass and don’t buy CD’s unless I have to because usually I only want one song. So, if anyone out there has the song “Sugar We’re Goin’ Down” by the Fall Out Boys email it to me at {bug AT thelastcowgirls DOT com} and I’ll lurve ya forever *grins* Once I get my crap organized I’ll be offering up some songs here that I have that are collecting dust on my hard drive.

Ok back to work…

The Hills Are Alive…With Blogs?

Friday, February 24th, 2006

This morning while doing my usual surf around the blogsphere I ran across something that peaked my interest. Scott -O-Rama did a post titled “The Real Reason Blogging Is Hard”. He accompanied it with a picture of a meat grinder and a single sentence that was linked to this. G’head…read and c’mon back if you’re interested–I’ll wait ;)

So, anyway after reading that post I got to thinkin’…blogging really can be hard sometimes! Every blogger wants to be read and commented on so they have to come up with something new every single day. It can turn into a grind of sorts. My problem is that I see a million things a day to talk about on here but once I sit down its wicked hard to get my thoughts in order enough to present them to y’all. Maybe it’s my ADD kicking in–who knows.

When I first started An Indian Summer I didn’t have any huge plans for it. I figured it’d be a place where my family could read about what goes on in my life, a place where I could get things off my chest, a place just for me to get stuff out of my head and down in a semi-tangible form. Slowly I began to get regular readers that weren’t related to me, something I didn’t plan on! There are people out there that come here and read my stuff–how exciting! If you blog you know what I’m talking about…that little jump in your tummy that someone is reading your stuff and interacting with you because of it. It’s a great feeling!

Thursday Thirteen #5

Thirteen Free Programs Bug Can’t Live Without

1. ZoneAlarm: This firewall kicks so much ass! Awhile back I had some dialers running off my system, after installing Zone they no longer could gain access to my system. It also allows me to choose what programs I want to have access to the internet and alerts me when an un-authorized program is trying to gain access. Automatically keeps itself updated at no charge to you.

2. Ad-Aware SE Personal Edition: Scans your RAM, Registry, hard drives, and external storage devices for known data-mining, advertising, and tracking components. It cleans house on icky data-miners and other crap that’s loaded to your computer while you surf. You’ll need to manually update this one (just a couple buttons clicks), but updates are always free!

3. a-squared Free: Detects and removes malicious software (Malware) like Trojans, Dialers, Worms and Spyware. Again, updates are free with just a couple clicks of a button!

4. CCleaner (aka Crap Cleaner): An optimization and privacy tool. It removes unused files from your system - allowing Windows to run faster and freeing up valuable hard disk space. It also cleans traces of your online activities such as your Internet history. I like this one because it takes care of all those damn temp files that clog up your system and slow it down. Updates are free, just a couple clicks of a button and bam! Done.

5. AVG Anti-Virus: This anti-virus scanner is a god-send! It does everything, automatic scans of your system, email scanner, scans programs as they are run so you can make sure that nothing is getting by you. It even comes with a “Virus Vault”–a nasty little pit for current viruses that won’t allow them to escape. Updates are free and can be scheduled so you can just let it do its thing!

6. McAfee AVERT Stinger: Already got an infected system? Stinger may be able to help! Stinger is a stand-alone utility used to detect and remove specific viruses. It performs digital kung-fu on things like the Sasser Worm, Sober, and many other bad boys. There’s a complete listing on the site of just who this program can take out. I keep a CD with the latest version in my desk so incase I ever get infected I can start kickin’ some tail immediately! To get “updates” you’ll have to check their site for the latest version.

7. CWShredder: Having “Cool Web Search” problems? This program was designed specifically for CWS and its variants. Including the Cassandra that hijacks your browser. Updates are done with a couple clicks of a button!

8. Kill2me 1.11: A removal tool specifically for the Look2Me parasite. This tool removes versions 115-122 (most recent) on all Windows versions.

9. FireFox: Not going to preach much on this one–everyone else is doin’ a fine job for me. But it is nice :)

10. Thunderbird: The e-mail client produced by the folks who made FF. I like it, it’s nice and simple.

11. Google Earth: Because I’m a big fat dork and like maps this program is too cool for school in my book! The Hotness and I like to cruise around the world–this morning I went and saw Saint Peter’s Basilia, Vatican City *chuckle* It’s a bitch on dialup users though so be forewarned. Would be good for the kiddos too I suppose…

12. Good Keywords: A tool for finding the ideal set of keywords for targeting your web pages. Use Good Keywords to find suitable keywords sets, create your meta tags, brainstorm product ideas, etc. I’ve used this only a couple times and have yet to really test and see if a page targeted with it’s suggestions actually does better than one that isn’t. Either way it’s pretty neat.

13. CoreFTP Lite Free Version: This is what I use for my FTP needs. It’s simple, quick to set up and I love it! Features like SFTP (SSH), SSL, TLS, IDN, browser integration, site to site transfers, FTP transfer resume, drag and drop support, file viewing & editing, firewall support, custom commands, FTP URL parsing, command line transfers, filters, and much, much more!

*phew* I’m worn out now, have a great TT y’all!
