Yeah It’s Not A Tree

Tuesday, July 5th, 2005

Not A TreeWhile I was in FFA during high school I was on the forestry team. It was a great experience and I learned a lot about…well forestry. Anyway, the other day I was sitting out in the parking lot of a local pizza joint waiting for it to open so I could pick up a few pies. As I’m sitting there I see this tree across the way. I notice the top of it wasn’t looking too good…since I had nothing better to do I sat there and tried to dredge up the knowledge I acquired from our practices to try and figure out what the heck is wrong with it or is that what the particular species does. Yeah, I’m a loser but what else was I gonna do? I wasn’t successful, chalked it up to too many beers between then and now and put it into the back of my mind.

Couple days later I see this picture in the local paper. Turns out it’s not a tree at all it’s a damn cell phone tower! No fucking wonder I couldn’t figure out what was wrong with it. Apparently this is the new “thing” in our state…Phoenix has one’s that look like palm trees from what I’ve been told by some friends. *shakes head* Lesson learned? Things aren’’t always…oh hell you know the rest.

Five Bucks

Monday, July 4th, 2005

I found $5 in a pair of my skinny-jeans-from-highschool that are shoved back in a drawer that isn’t opend often. Totally made my day…don’tcha love it when that happens? Unexpected money rocks!

I wonder if rich people get excited when they suddenly find $5 in their pocket?

Happy 4th ya’ll, be safe!

Night at The Gulch

Saturday, July 2nd, 2005

Trying to recover from last night’s little outing with dad has not been an easy task. Hell, I didn’t even drink. Dad did though and man he was tre` popular with rounds being sent to our table from random buddies all night (Peppermint Schnapps if yer wondering). The band they had at the bar was beyond awesome! They’re a group of Flagstaff, AZ folks called Jaded. I heard everything from Judas Preist to Stevie Ray Vaughn and it all sounded like it should, they put on a helluva show and got the crowd all pumped up. I managed to stay right next to dad the whole night and our good friend Donna who works the day shift at the bar did an excellent job in making sure that the boys stayed at arms length. *snicker* A couple slipped through and interrupted my musical enjoyment but all in all I was able to enjoy the night without a hitch.

Sadly, that is one of the main reasons I don’t go out to bars here anymore. If I don’t have a large scary male escort with me (i.e. Dad) the night turns into a long string of me explaining why I’m not there to hookup/have a drink/hear why you’re so damn special. Which in turn ruins the music which is the only reason I even bother going out at 9:30 on a Friday night instead of coding or reading. Now, you may be wondering (as am I) why the hell I actually have this problem. I’m not “sexy” by any strech of the imagination, I think it’s because the bars I prefer to frequent have the best bands but the worst clientele (roughnecks and druggies). I like biker bars because of the energy and I love saloons because of the dancing. I can’t hang out at the trendy places here in town (well they are considered trendy by local standards anyway), clubs just don’t do it for me and I don’t think I fit in at a place I can’t wear my boots.

I’ve come to the conclusion that the only reason I get bothered when I go out is because I don’t go out often and so maybe it’s just the fact that I’m not the same skanky-tweaked-out regular. *shrug* They just see a new face and feel the need to find out everything about it…including if it puts out. Which in my case the answer is a resounding: “Uh NO!” Heh.

Anywhoot, I’ve got a lot of topics collecting dust in the good ol’ idea notebook so get ready for a long group of funky posts full of witty Bug-goodness. I’m going to take an aspirin and go back to bed. Hasta!
