Mini Wheats and Marlboros

Sunday, February 27th, 2005

That’s about the high point of my day…it’s just been one of “those” sundays where nothing exciting really happens and I have nothing to do but work on coding and other misc. crap.

I could go outside and see the sun, breathe fresh air, play with the dogs…but no, I choose to keep myself locked up in this stuffy office. Some people say my work ethic is unhealthy, I just think they are sissys who have no stamina or drive. To make an idea work you must work on the idea!

Josh came into the office last night and noticed the Victoria Secret gift card still sitting on top of one of my file boxes. He asked me when I was going to get up there and use it…and I told him I’m saving it for when I have a really bad day. See, I’m one of those people who tend to deal with bad days by buying myself stuff/food/clothes/etc. which I’ve been told is not a healthy way to deal with things but damnit it sure feels good when I can soothe my hurt feelers with a brand spankin new tank top or a large Frosty!

After I told him that he said he understood and life went on…but that got me to thinking, what do other people do when they have a bad day? So, my question to you is:

What do you do when you have a bad day? Do you just let all that emotion get pent up inside or do you have an external “band-aid” for it (like shopping, over eating, etc)?

I’m Still Alive

Just very very busy! Thank you to all the people who helped me with my little business delimma, I’m in the process of putting my new super secret plan into action!

It’s been a week of good news at the homestead here! First I’d like to have everyone give a great big round of applause to Joshua for getting not only a RAISE but also a brand-spankin new company van! They really love him! ^_^ And he isn’t on call for 2 weekends now so I have the option of taking him on a jaunt down to Tombstone!

Sebastien got the job as a sautee chef at the new fancy-shmancy restraunt here in town! (kinda sorta helps that our uncle owns it) But he beat out alot of old guys with his skills so I guess he must be good! Now if I can just get him to do fancy dinners here at home! Harharhar.

I’ve been listening to Offspring nonstop for the last three days, seem to get more work done that way…no idea why…anyway, I’ve opened advertising on my main site, the banners run on my two other sites as well (Bug’s Nook and TLC Members Area)! That script was a BITCH to install…then again I’m kinda pokey with new proggies but it’s up and running and perdy!

Also I’d like to plug Rainbow over at *Crazy-Talk.org* for being so incredibly cool in helping me locate the banner ad script! Thank you sweetie ((huggles))!

Let’s see what else is going on…oh, thank you to Melissa over at *Tickled Me Pixeled* for signing up for the *Free Ipod* offer! If you haven’t signed up for this yet you really should as I’ve talked to many people who’ve recieved one and they are tickled pink!

Also, for those who’ve emailed me about where all the extra stuff at TLC went it’s now located at *Bug’s Nook*! Go take a peek!

Ok so I’d better get to work, I need to send out this weeks newsletter and get some work done on the site! Have a great Saturday ya’ll! ^_^

*Lookin’ Slightly Accomplished*

Well well well….this lazy chickkie finally did some work!
I got the site updated and still have a few more things to do with it but for now I’ve been dredging through my inbox of doom…it’s a mess…

Err..ok so time for some pluggin:

*BlogAzoo*- Neat little proggie…sort of like blogexplosion (points to the left).
*Mz Kitten*- The newest addition to the Blog Roll!

Phew, now that’s outta the way..down to business…

I have a dilemma that’s been naggin away at me for awhile now, something that I’d of never thought of if 4 different people hadn’t mentioned it to me.

As some of you may know I offer website hosting at my *main site*. Currently as well as in the past people have always come to me for HTML help and I’ve given help freely and spent countless hours with people, even one’s who aren’t my clients.

My packages range from $2-$9 a month for bandwidth and space, which isn’t very much (barley covers my costs actually). I don’t charge for HTML/CSS/PHP help at all. However the average time spent with a person helping them is about 3 hours. And I help A LOT of people…

Josh was the first person to mention that I should really be charging for my “extra help” that I provide, as I have a family to take care of, a house to run, and two businesses to look after. He says that if this is going to be a business I shouldn’t’ be doing it for free otherwise I’m making diddly-squat for a profit and shouldn’t even bother.

Now I can see his point and I agree with him 100%. However, a lot of the people who come to me for help are my friends and I feel kinda weird about saying “Hey I helped you in the past for free but now you have to pay me.” So I don’t know what to do here…

I offer tech support on all server issues and help clients learn about FTP and things of that nature, that is included in my current pricing. So I have a few options here:

1. Start charging per hour (half hr min) on all HTML/CSS/PHP support no matter who it is.
2. Raise my hosting prices to try and make up for the time I loose. (really don’t want to do this one)
3. Create a Members area full of flash/text tutorials where people can purchase memberships.
4. Do nothing and feel really bad about the whole situation.
What is your opinion on what I should do? I’m open for ANY suggestions at this point because I’m at a loss here…comment please!

Working, but hell no I’m messing around as usual!

Your Brain is 53.33% Female, 46.67% Male

Your brain is a healthy mix of male and female
You are both sensitive and savvy
Rational and reasonable, you tend to keep level headed
But you also tend to wear your heart on your sleeve

Heh, if my brain is considered “healthy” we’re all in some shit!

Anway, I updated the blog roll, it’s still not finished but I have to find a few more that I had bookmarked pre-reformat…

Hmmm, not too much to say. Got a bunch of stuff I want to do on the *site*…but that can wait another day right? LOL! Ok off to play s’more
